Reetha (Aritha) Powder is made from dry, grounded fruits from the Aretha (Reetha) tree. It is brown in color with a slight herbal scent. Dried Aritha fruits are also known as soap nuts. The powder contains a lot of saponins, thus it foams well when mixed with water and can thoroughly cleanse even oily scalp and hair. It can be used instead of a shampoo, shower gel, facial cleanser or for cleaning.
It has good cleansing abilities. In Ayurveda it is used for problem skin care like psoriasis or eczema. Due to its gentle insecticide properties, it is appropriate for natural head lice removal, especially in combination with Neem powder or Neem oil. It can also be used for washing laundry, dishes and for precious metal cleaning.
Directions for use:
Hair washing: Mix Aritha powder with water until you are satisfied with the density of the paste. Let it sit for 20 minutes. Apply to hair and scalp, massage in well, leave on the hair for 20-30 minutes. Rinse with water, no need to shampoo. Use it weekly for shiny and healthy hair. For even better results you can use a mixture of equal parts of Aritha, Amla and Neem powders and use it the same way.
Skin/body care: Mix Aritha powder with water until you are satisfied with the density of the paste. Let it sit for 20 minutes. Use a fresh mixture for cleansing the face or as a shower gel. Especially good for oily skin and acne care.
