Description: Ground dried pods, leaves, and bark of the Shikakai shrub. It is a brown powder with a woody scent. It possesses excellent cleansing abilities, especially for hair care, though it produces very little lather.
Benefits: Shikakai is a traditional Ayurvedic herb for hair and scalp care. Its fruits contain natural saponins, giving shikakai gentle cleansing properties that make it a favorite ingredient in traditional herbal hair-washing preparations. Shikakai gently cleanses the hair without leaving it feeling excessively dry. It is suitable for scalp care and for hair that requires gentle cleansing and natural nourishment. Afterward, hair often appears smoother, shinier, and more supple.
This herbal powder is especially popular for preparing masks and cleansing blends for long, dry, thin, or damaged hair, as it contributes to a pleasant hair texture and easier detangling. Because of its naturally mild pH, it integrates wonderfully into traditional hair care regimens and is frequently combined with amla, aritha, and baheda for a comprehensive herbal routine.
Natural active ingredients: Natural saponins, polyphenols, and other plant phytocomplexes.
Instructions for use: Mix Shikakai powder with water to achieve a paste of suitable consistency, and let it stand for 20 minutes. Apply to the hair, massage well into the scalp, and leave on for 20–30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water; no shampoo is required. Use once weekly for healthy hair. For optimal results, mix equal parts Shikakai, Aritha, and Amla powder.
