Description and Uses: Obtained through steam distillation of bitter orange leaves. It has a fresh, woody scent with a fruity note and a light yellow color. It restores and elevates energy, stimulates intellectual focus, calms anger, restlessness, or panic, and is used to aid with insomnia. It blends nicely into men's fragrance compositions. It is excellent for creating products for oily and acne-prone skin by helping to deeply cleanse it, as well as for deodorants.

Oils with which it can be blended: All citrus oils, especially bergamot, as well as lavender, geranium, sandalwood, and rosewood.

Fun Facts: Petitgrain has been used since the 18th century in perfumery and cosmetics, and can also be found as a natural flavoring in drinks and foods. Its name means "little grain" and originated in ancient times when tiny, unripe bitter orange fruits were used to produce this oil. Today, the leaves of the same plant are used instead. The bitter orange tree is very popular for essential oil production because three different oils are derived from it: orange oil from the fruit peels, neroli from the blossoms, and petitgrain from the leaves.
