Description and Uses: Obtained through steam distillation of Roman chamomile flowers. It has a sweet, floral-fruity scent reminiscent of ripe apples and is yellow to green in color. It soothes and relieves irritation, and can help with overall skin health, especially for irritated or red skin. It has a strong antioxidant effect, which is why it is frequently used in cosmetic products for skin rejuvenation. In a bath, it has a beneficial effect on superficial wounds, inflammation, or hemorrhoids. In aromatherapy, it helps calm stress, nervousness, and depression.

Oils with which it can be blended: Geranium, rose, lavender, neroli, clary sage, and ylang ylang.

Fun Facts: It is an annual plant from the daisy family. It is most commonly found in Central Europe, where it grows at lower altitudes and in well-drained soils. It was a sacred plant in ancient Egypt, dedicated to the sun god Ra, and has been highly valued for 4,000 years. The name derives from the Greek word chamaimelon, meaning "dwarf apple," due to its characteristic scent of overripe apples.
