Description and Uses: Obtained through steam distillation of clary sage leaves and flowers. It has a light, golden-yellow color and an earthy, fruity-floral scent reminiscent of nuts and herbs. The oil promotes feelings of warmth, calms the mind, and can bring about feelings of joy. It can act as an antidepressant, help with cramps and unpleasant odors, soothe blood pressure, and positively affect the nerves and uterus. Certain sources note that it can help soothe asthma, and it is also excellent for the care and cleansing of an oily scalp.

Oils with which it can be blended: Bergamot, Himalayan cedarwood, chamomile, geranium, jasmine, lavender, neroli, orange, sandalwood, rosewood, and ylang ylang.

Fun Facts: Clary sage is a biennial or perennial low-growing plant that reaches up to one meter in height, featuring large, hairy leaves and tiny blue-purple flowers growing on an upright stem. The English word "Clary" derives from a Latin term for clarity, likely because the herb was traditionally used to clear mucus from the eyes. In sixteenth-century England, it was also used in place of hops for brewing beer.
