Description and Uses: It is extracted from the peel of bergamot oranges and is yellow-green in color. It has a fresh, juicy, and slightly sweet citrus scent. It is very popular in aromatherapy as it lifts the mood, brings cheerfulness, and improves general well-being. It can be used as an aid for depression, stress, anxiety, anorexia, psoriasis, eczema, and recovery from illnesses.

Oils with which it can be blended: black pepper, clary sage, cypress, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, mandarin, nutmeg, orange, rosemary, sandalwood, vetiver, and ylang ylang.

Fun Facts: The bergamot tree is native to Southeast Asia and also thrives well in northern parts of Africa and the Mediterranean, being especially popular in Italy. It can grow up to 4 meters high, with star-shaped flowers and smooth leaves. The fruits resemble a cross between an orange and a grapefruit and are pear-shaped. They grow green and ripen to a yellow color.

Bergamot got its name from the city of Bergamo in Lombardy, where its oil first began to be sold. In production, green or black tea is scented with a few drops of bergamot to create the well-known Earl Grey tea.

Not suitable for application on sensitive or sun-burned skin due to its high bergapten content. The use of essential oils during pregnancy is not recommended.
