Amla powder, 100g
Every person's skin is unique, and even naturally derived ingredients may not be suitable for everyone. We recommend performing a patch test before first use of any cosmetic product, regardless of the brand, particularly if you have sensitive or reactive skin. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
Description: Made from dried, ground fruits of the Amla tree, also known as Indian gooseberry. It is a traditionally prized plant in Ayurvedic hair and skin care. It has a light brown color and a mild, tart scent reminiscent of cranberries and oak bark. Amla extracts are used in natural shampoos, hair oils, and natural dyes. Because it is rich in tannins, it can also be used to help set fabric dyes.
Benefits: Amla is a natural source of vitamin C and other antioxidant plant compounds, making it a popular ingredient in natural hair and scalp care preparations. In hair care, it is used as part of traditional herbal blends to nourish the scalp and hair roots. It helps condition hair, gives it a healthier and shinier appearance, and is particularly well-suited for preparing masks and other herbal hair treatments. Due to its astringent properties, amla is also beneficial for skin care. It helps create a feeling of clean, fresh, and more balanced skin, making it especially suitable for normal, combination, and oily skin types. Amla powder is a versatile natural ingredient for DIY hair, scalp, and facial masks. It can be used on its own or combined with other traditional Indian herbs such as shikakai, aritha, and baheda.
Natural active ingredients: Vitamin C, polyphenols, and other antioxidant plant compounds.
Instructions for use:
-
Water hair mask: Mix amla powder with warm water and let it sit for 15 minutes. Apply to the hair and scalp, ensuring all hair roots are covered. Leave on for 20–30 minutes and rinse with water; no shampooing is needed. Follow with a natural hair conditioner or a neem powder wrap.
-
Oil hair mask: Mix equal parts amla powder and olive oil or liquid coconut oil. Apply in the same way as the water mask, then wash your hair with a natural shampoo.
-
Facial mask: Mix amla powder with warm water and let it sit for 15 minutes. Apply to cleansed facial skin and leave on for 5–10 minutes, then rinse with water, tone the skin with a hydrosol, and apply a moisturizer. For sensitive skin, you can use a blend of amla and white clay.
Warning: When preparing herbal powders and clays, avoid using metal utensils or bowls, as they can react with the material and alter the product chemically. It is best to use wooden or ceramic tools.
