Description and usage: Made by steam distillation of the flowering plants of oregano. It has a pale yellow color and a distinct, spicy herbal, warm scent. Relieves pain and inflammation and strengthens the immune system. Increases flexibility of joints and muscles, and has beneficial effect on the respiratory system. It is used in cosmetic products for fungus on the nails, acne and ulcers in the mouth. It is an antioxidant and helps against free radicals.
Blends well with: lavender, rosemary, bergamot, chamomile, cypress, cedarwood, tea tree, eucalyptus.
Interesting facts: Oregano is a bushy herb that grows to a maximum of 1 meter, has dark green oval leaves and pinkish white flowers. It is native to Europe, but is now grown in many countries around the world. Some confuse it with marjoram, since they are closely related and have a similar Latin name. It was first mentioned in 5000 years old writings - Oregano was supposedly made by the goddess Aphrodite and goddess Venus used it a lot. Even before the Greeks, its therapeutic properties can be found in writings of Phoenicians and Assyrians. Moreover, it is widely used in the Mediterranean, especially in the Italian cuisine and is an indispensable spice for pizza.
