Description and Uses: Obtained from dried vanilla pods through extraction. It is golden yellow in color and has a rich, sweet vanilla scent. Pure oil is of exceptional quality and commands a very high price, which is why it is offered diluted in jojoba oil—though this does not diminish its properties or scent quality. It acts as an antioxidant, relaxes, induces good cheer, and helps with stress, irritability, and depression. It is also used to good effect with cancer patients. Its effect as an aphrodisiac is particularly interesting, as its scent contains components similar to human pheromones and can chemically bind with them when inhaled.

Oils with which it can be blended: Benzoin, bergamot, frankincense, jasmine, lemon, mandarin, orange, patchouli, rose, sandalwood, vetiver, ylang ylang, neroli, chamomile, and lavender.

Fun Facts: Vanilla is a climbing vine that grows up to 25 meters high and thrives best in Mexico and neighboring countries. It features deep, fragrant, trumpet-shaped flowers that are pollinated in nature by hummingbirds, or hand-pollinated when cultivated. The green pods are harvested, fermented, and dried to produce dark brown, intensely fragrant vanilla pods.
