Description and Uses: Obtained through steam distillation of frankincense resin and is pale yellow or greenish in color. It has a woody, intense scent that captivates. It is widely used in aromatherapy as it calms and promotes inner peace, and also helps alleviate urinary and respiratory issues, muscle pain, or rheumatism. It has a rejuvenating and highly nourishing effect on the skin. It also acts as an astringent, diuretic, and sedative, tones the skin, and helps with expectoration.

Oils with which it can be blended: basil, bergamot, cardamom, cedar, chamomile, cinnamon, clary sage, coriander, geranium, and ginger.

Fun Facts: Frankincense is also known as Olibanum. It is a twisted yet very hardy tree with numerous oval leaves and white or pale pink flowers. Incisions are made in its bark, from which a sticky, highly fragrant resin flows out and hardens in the air, after which the oil is extracted from it. It originates from the country of Oman in the Middle East and is also cultivated in Egypt. The oil is highly valued in the perfume industry and in aromatherapy. Ancient Egyptians used it as an offering to the gods and as a rejuvenating facial mask. They also used it as incense for the sick to drive away evil spirits.
