This powder is made from dry, grounded fruits from the Amla tree. It is also called the Indian gooseberry. It has a light brown color and a slight sour scent, reminiscent of cranberries and oak bark. Amla extract is widely used in natural shampoos, hair oils and natural colors. Due to its high tannin content, it can be used as a fabric color fixative.

It is very rich in vitamin C, has antioxidant effects and helps to prevent premature graying of hair. It also helps prevents hair loss and dandruff. It has astringent effects on the skin, thus it is very good for normal, combination and oily skin.

Directions for use:
Hair mask with water: Mix Amla powder with very warm water and let it sit for 15 minutes. Apply to hair and scalp; make sure all hair roots are covered. Leave on the hair for 20-30 minutes, rinse with water, no need to shampoo. Use a natural conditioner or apply a Neem powder mask instead.
Hair mask with plant oil: Mix the same amount of Amla powder with olive or coconut oil. Use the same way as mask with water, then rinse, shampoo and condition.
Facial mask: Mix Amla powder with very warm water and let it sit for 15 minutes. Apply to cleansed skin, leave on for 5-10 minutes then rinse with water and moisten the skin with your toner or hydrosol and apply a moisturizer or natural oil.
