Intended Use: For room scenting using a vaporizer.

Description and Uses: Obtained through steam distillation of the whole thyme plant. It ranges from red-yellow to brown in color and has a strong herbal, sweet-bitter scent. It is highly valued for its ability to strengthen the nerves, aid concentration and memory, and assist with numerous respiratory conditions. Because of its warming effect, it is used for arthritis, rheumatism, and gout, and it also stimulates the immune system. It can help with exhaustion and depression. It is used in a vaporizer, though it is not very suitable for cosmetic products as it can irritate mucous membranes and sensitive skin. Generally, it should be used in small quantities.

Oils with which it can be blended: Bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, lavender, rosemary, and pine.

Fun Facts: Thyme is an ancient herb that was used for healing by the Greeks, Egyptians, and Romans. It is an evergreen perennial that grows up to 45 cm tall, featuring a bushy shape with many tiny, oval, fragrant leaves. It blooms with white or pale violet flowers. Its name derives from the Greek word thymos, meaning fragrance; it was used as incense by the Greeks and for embalming by the Egyptians. In the Middle Ages, it was given to knights on tournaments for courage, and fresh thyme was placed in courtrooms to ward off diseases.
